Hello AT DeCals 1 and 2,
My warmest welcome and thank you for joining us this semester. Throughout this experience I hope we can come to nurture communication channels strong enough to make this the best, most enduring experience for all involved. Please consult the course syllabus for full details.
Here is a bit of information in the meantime –
We are AT DeCal Levels 1 & 2, Fall 2013. We are a fairly conventional CAL class in that we’re historically life changing.
We help our students grow, as they help us grow. We pour our devotion in, their devotion churns out. This includes anyone who wants to be our student. We service the community and community knows no boundaries.
Level 1 will have discussion section in 210 Wheeler from 7:00-8:00pm and then walk over to Hearst GYM for dance class and practice time from 8:10-10:00pm.
Level 2 will have discussion section and a dance lesson in a 210 Wheeler (no heels please – soft shoes only) from 8:00-10:00pm. We will then carpool to the Beat (optional field trip – but very, very highly encouraged!).
Level 1 will occur weekly, on Thursdays from 7 – 10pm
Level 2 will occur weekly, on Mondays from 8 – 10pm + and optional 10 – 12am fieldtrip to a local dance venue.
Your dance teachers Stephanie Berg and Nicholas Tapia will teach Level 1 and D’Artagnan Horner (and I) will teach Level 2. They’re mindblowingly amazing.
Integration and connection. This is about much more than a dance. I look to draw connections between life and belief, stories and truths, dance and people, communities and individuals…
And I’m interested in hearing your stories too.
I have full confidence this will be an amazing semester. I hope you come to find community, respite, and inspiration with us this Fall.
